FACEBOOK

Facebook is a social networking website launched in February 2004 that is operated and privately owned by Facebook, Inc., with more than 500 million active users in July 2010.Users can add people as friends and send them messages, and update their personal profiles to notify friends about themselves. Additionally, users can join networks organized by workplace, school, or college. The website's name stems from the colloquial name of books given to students at the start of the academic year by university administrations in the US with the intention of helping students to get to know each other better. Facebook allows anyone who declares themselves to be aged 13 or older to become a member of the website.

Facebook was founded by Mark Zuckerberg with his college roommates and fellow computer science students Eduardo Saverin, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes. The website's membership was initially limited by the founders to Harvard students, but was expanded to other colleges in the Boston area, the Ivy League, and Stanford University. It gradually added support for students at various other universities before opening to high school students, and, finally, to anyone aged 13 and over.

Facebook has met with some controversy. It has been blocked intermittently in several countries including Pakistan,Syria,People's Republic of China,Vietnam, and Iran.It has also been banned at many places of work to discourage employees from wasting time using the service.Privacy has also been an issue, and it[clarification needed] has been compromised several times. Facebook settled a lawsuit regarding claims over source code and intellectual property. The site has also been involved in controversy over the sale of fans and friends.
A January 2009 Compete.com study ranked Facebook as the most used social network by worldwide monthly active users, followed by MySpace.Entertainment Weekly put it on its end-of-the-decade 'best-of' list, saying, "How on earth did we stalk our exes, remember our co-workers' birthdays, bug our friends, and play a rousing game of Scrabulous before Facebook?"

The site represented a Harvard University version of Hot or Not, according to the Harvard Crimson. According to The Harvard Crimson, Facemash "used photos compiled from the online facebooks of nine Houses, placing two next to each other at a time and asking users to choose the 'hotter' person". To accomplish this, Zuckerberg hacked into the protected areas of Harvard's computer network and copied the houses' private dormitory ID images. Harvard at that time did not have a student directory with photos, and basic information and the initial site generated 450 visitors and 22,000 photo-views in its first four hours online. That the initial site mirrored people’s physical community—with their real identities—represented the key aspects of what later became Facebook.

The site was quickly forwarded to several campus group list-servers but was shut down a few days later by the Harvard administration. Zuckerberg was charged by the administration with breach of security, violating copyrights, and violating individual privacy, and faced expulsion, but ultimately the charges were dropped. Zuckerberg expanded on this initial project that semester by creating a social study tool ahead of an art history final by uploading 500 Augustan images to a website, with one image per page along with a comment section. He opened the site up to his classmates and people started sharing their notes. The following semester, Zuckerberg began writing code for a new website in January 2004. He was inspired, he said, by an editorial in The Harvard Crimson about the Facemash incident. On February 4, 2004, Zuckerberg launched "Thefacebook", originally located at thefacebook.com.

Facebook launched a high school version in September 2005, which Zuckerberg called the next logical step.At that time, high school networks required an invitation to join.Facebook later expanded membership eligibility to employees of several companies, including Apple Inc. and Microsoft.Facebook was then opened on September 26, 2006, to everyone of ages 13 and older with a valid e-mail address. On October 24, 2007, Microsoft announced that it had purchased a 1.6% share of Facebook for $240 million, giving Facebook a total implied value of around $15 billion.Microsoft's purchase included rights to place international ads on Facebook. In October 2008, Facebook announced that it was to set up its international headquarters in Dublin, Ireland. In September 2009, Facebook claimed that it had turned cash flow positive for the first time.In June 2010, an online marketplace for trading private company stock reflected a valuation of $11.5 billion.

Over time, Facebook has added features to its website. On September 6, 2006, a News Feed was announced, which appears on every user's homepage and highlights information including profile changes, upcoming events, and birthdays of the user's friends.[74] This has enabled spammers and other users to manipulate these features by creating illegitimate events or posting fake birthdays to attract attention to their profile or cause.[75] Initially, the News Feed caused dissatisfaction among Facebook users; some complained it was too cluttered and full of undesired information, while others were concerned it made it too easy for other people to track down individual activities (such as changes in relationship status, events, and conversations with other users).[76] In response to this dissatisfaction, Zuckerberg issued an apology for the site's failure to include appropriate customizable privacy features. Since then, users have been able to control what types of information are shared automatically with friends. Users are now able to prevent friends from seeing updates about certain types of activities, including profile changes, Wall posts, and newly added friends.[77] On February 23, 2010, Facebook was granted US patent 7669123 on certain aspects of their News Feed. The patent covers News Feeds where links are provided so that one user can participate in the same activity of another user.[78] The patent may encourage Facebook to pursue action against websites that violate the patent, which may potentially include websites such as Twitter.[79]

WONDERS OF THE WORLD

Various lists of the Wonder of the world  have been compiled  over the ages of  the catalogue  the most specticular constructions and natural things in the world. The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World is the first known list of the most remarkable creation of classical antiquity, and was based on guide-books popularamong Hellinic sight seers and only includes work located around the Mediterranean rim.The number seven was choosen because the Greeks it to be representation of perfection and plenty. Many similar list have be made. The seven wonder including:Great Pyramid of Giza,Hanging Garden of Babylon,Statue of Zeus at Olympia,Temple of Artemis at Ephesus,Mausoleum of Mausollos at Halicarnassas,Colossus of Rhodus, and Lighthouse of Alexendria. Many list of wonders of the world are said to have existed during the Middle Ages althought it is unlikelythat these list originated at that time because of the world  medieval was not even invented until the Enlightment-Era,and the concept of the Middle Age did ont become popular until the 16th century.Other sites sometimes included on such lists;Taj Mahal,Cairo Citade,Ely Cathreda,Cluny Abbey. Many list have been made of the greatest structures build during  modern times or of the greatest wonder existing today. Some of the most notable lists are presented,Channel Tunes in between UK and France,CN Tower in Canada, and Empire State Building in US.
Seven Natural Wonders of the World:

Similar to the other lists of wonders, there is no consensus on a list of seven natural wonders of the world, as there has been debate over how large the list should be. One of the many lists was compiled by CNN:[17]

Grand Canyon

Great Barrier Reef

Harbour of Rio de Janeiro

Mount Everest

Aurora

ParĂcutin volcano

Victoria Falls

New7Wonders of Nature is a contemporary effort to create a list of seven natural wonders chosen by people through a global poll, organized by New Open World Corporation (NOWC), which ran the New Seven Wonders of the World campaign.

Seven Natural Wonders:[18] is a not for profit endeavour created to protect the seven natural wonders that have already been established.

Other Lists of Wonders of the World

Numerous other authors and organizations have composed lists of the wonders of the world. Travel writer Howard Hillman published two books on the subject, one with 10 man-made wonders, and one with 10 natural wonders.[21][22] British biographer, science writer, and novelist Ronald W. Clark is another who has published a list of man-made and natural wonders, in his book Wonders of the World. Rather than having only seven wonders of the world to match the number of days in a week, Clark's list includes 52 wonders, one for each week of the year.[23]

Seven Wonders of the Underwater World

The Seven Underwater Wonders of the World was a list drawn up by CEDAM International, an American-based non-profit group for divers, dedicated to ocean preservation and research.

In 1989 CEDAM brought together a panel of marine scientists, including Dr. Eugenie Clark, to pick underwater areas which they considered to be worthy of protection. The results were announced at The National Aquarium in Washington DC by actor Lloyd Bridges, star of TV's Sea Hunt:[19][20]

NUCLEAR ENERGY

The pursuit of nuclear energy for electricity generation began soon after the discovery in the early 20th century that radioactive elements, such as radium, released immense amounts of energy, according to the principal of mass energy equivalence. However mean of harnessing such as energy was impractical, because intensenly radioactive elements were,by their very nature,short-lived(high energy is correlated with short half-lives).After World War II,the prospects of using "atomic energy' for good, rather than simply for war, were greatly advocated as a reason not to keep all nuclear research controlled by military organizations. However most scientists agreed that civilian nuclear power would take at least a decade to master,(such as those in United States,UK,Canada,Russia, and France)attempted to keep reactor nuclear research under strict goverment control and classification. On July 27,1954,the Russia Nuclear Power Plant become the world's first power plant to generate electricity for a power grid, and produced around 5megawatts of electric power. Just as many conventional  thermal power stations generate electricity by harnessing the thermal energy released from fossil fuels, nuclear power plants converted to energy via nuclear fission. It is often  claimed that nuclear stations are inflexible in their output, implying that other forms of energy  would be required to meet peak demand.Nuclear plants are routinely used in load following mode on a large scale in France.A nuclear reactors is only part of life-cycle for nuclear power. The process start with mining.Uranium  mines are underground, open pit,in-situ leach mines. In any case, the uranium ore is extracted, usually converted into a stable and compact form such as yellowcakes. Here, the yellowcake is converted to uranium hexafluride, which is then enriched using various techniques.

PULAU REDANG(EXCITING PLACES TO BE)

Redang island, locally known as pulau redang or just "redang'' is the one of the largest island off the east coast of Malaysia. It is one of nine islands, which form a marine park and which offer snorkelling and diving oppurtunities.Access is from Merang or Kuala Terengganu on boats operated by the results, there is also a small airport with service operated by Berjaya Air from Singapore(selected airport) and KualaLumpur (SultanAbdul Aziz Shah Airport).
The island also important conservation site for sea turtles.Previously, the indiscriminate economic exploitation of turtle eggs had caused fewer turtles returning to nest of the island. This had lead the Terengganu state goverment to set up the Koperasi SetiaJaya Pulau Redang in 1989,a cooperative aiming to develop and manage sosio-economic programmes that could improve the lifehood of Pulau Redang locals without endangering it's natural resources.
The waters around Pulau Redang also contain two historic shipwrecks:HMS Prince of Wales and HMS Repulse. The ship were sunk here at the start of World War II,setting the stage for the Japanese occupation of Malaya.
The Pulau Redang arplilago comprises Pulau Redang,Pulau Paku Besar,Pulau Ekor Tebu, and many more.Pulau Redang is the biggest of all the islands in the Marine Park, measuring about 7km long and 6km wide. It's highest peak is Bukit Besar at 359metres above sea level. The boundary of the Pulau Redang Marine Park is established by a line linking all points 2 nautical miles(3.7km) from the shores of Pulau Redang. The others nearby island of Pulau Perhentian Besar,Pulau Lang Tengah, and Pulau Susu Dara are also gazetted and protected as Marine Parks. Today only the bigger islands like Redang,Lang Tengah,Perhentian, and Kapas have resort facilities for visitors. The management of Marine Park primaly involves protection of sensitive marine terrestrial of ecosystems by controling the impact from human activities. These include waste& pollution management and conservationof coral reefs and terrestrial habitats.
The 2000 film,Summer Holiday was filmed on the Laguna Redang resort, and a replica of the tea house now serves as the resort's gift shop.

MY LEARNING STRATEGY SKILLS

Knowledge is the most importance things in the world.Without knowledge, our life is nothing and meaningless. In order to gain knowledges into the highest level,we have to started from the bottom. Now for me,there's a few strategy skills of learning that bring me into this level.First one is concentrate to what i'm studying in the class and try to review all the chapter i have learn every single days. The human mind respons to sensory input(sight,sound...)and also constanly generates its own ideas. When these mental activities interfere with what are u trying to think about,it causes external distraction or internal distraction, respectively.
The best way to cope either kind of distraction is to provide competition, with interest and activities.During an interesting activities conversation it is easy to totally ignore distractions and keep good concentration. When you develop an interest in what's you're studying, distractions won't have a chance.Taking notes during a lecturer requires a combination of receiving information(listen), process it(think),and preserve it(write). If possible, study in a quite place. But when noise occur, ignore it,and remember your own response is the main distraction, not the noise itself.
You won't be able to capture the whole content of a lecturer in your note, but part of what's missing is preserved in your memory temporarily. If you review the note soon, after the lecture while your memory is fresh, you can use the note to reminds you of weakly remembered ideas that will fade and vanish you! So,can u see now how a quick but well-timed review can improve your memory and your notes??I also do well-managed exam preparation. The first one is gathing information, such as read the professor's course slyllabus carefully and try to get "oriented'' and find out,as soon as possible.Example:what is the exam format, will there be "qualitative'' questions and so on.
And the last one is planning.Three ways to use your time more effectively are wise planning, good timing, and increased efficiency. As a student, your immediate goal may be to earn grades(and skills)that give you good options to choose from later.Wise planning is choosing daily activities that help you make progress toward your long-term goals.
